Shocked and profoundly grieved we announce the loss of
one of our own,
Fire Police Lt. Tom DiOrio. |

At 12:40 pm Sunday November 30th the West
Whiteland Fire Company
responded to an alarm at 189 Sterling Court. Fortunately, the
residents, alerted by smoke detectors, escaped the blaze of a third-floor
storage closet. It was during the alarm that Tom, while directing traffic
and doing what he loved, suffered an apparent heart attack. Tom will be
remembered as a compassionate man who never let his age undermine his ability to
help others. In December he would have been appointed Fire Police Captain. |
